As a tumultuous 2020 winds down heralding the new year, many go into their Christmas and year-end break, hoping to unwind and rejuvenate. Everyone must take a break from their daily routines to relax and rejuvenate.
It’s been a tough year, and because of all the uncertainty and stress of adjusting to the new post-pandemic realities, there is no space in many people’s lives. There is a constant stream of things to be worried about, things to be done, issues to be dealt with.
It’s like getting stuck in the gridlock of an unending traffic jam. A gridlock happens when all the cars occupy every little free space on the road to a point where no vehicle can move. In a gridlock, there is no forward movement possible.
The only way one can break out of gridlock is to create a space that will allow that freedom of movement necessary for the cars to get out of the jam.
Our mental state can also get into a gridlock state if it hostage to the constant workload of thoughts and emotions.
To have a life of fulfillment, we need to be able to access our spiritual dimension to understand the meaning and purpose of our life. We cannot access our spiritual dimension if our mind is occupied all the time, and if we are continually living in our thoughts and mind.
Our mind needs some space and stillness to access our spiritual dimension. And this can only come if there is a gap in our constant stream of thoughts. Taking a break will help create the space necessary for us to contemplate questions like “Who am I?” ” What is my purpose?” “What do I value most?”
These questions will lead you down a road where you will think more in-depth about yourself and notice things about yourself that will help you course-correct and improve.
So take a break from the “busy”ness and embrace some stillness, silence, and peace to help you come out from the gridlock of your mental chatter.
It will help you get back to your normal routines with a better version of yourself.
